“Ikemen popular band had their Japan major debut!”
CNBLUE leader YongHwa is the one who acted as “ShinWoo” in Korean drama ‘Ikemen Desune’ (You’re Beautiful). Regarding the drama’s popularity, he said ‘Everyone is Gun-chan (Jang Geunsuk) fan right?’ he smiled mischievously.

Yonghwa: ‘Actually I’m a little different from ShinWoo. The only similarity is maybe the warm heart? (lol) But Jeremy and Hongki-san matches exactly!’

After the drama broadcast ended, his band debut has became a hot issue. When the band members were revealed, all members have over 180cm height, model-like looks, so people were surprised! They dominated the chart with their catchy sound and solid skills, they immediately became a top artist even though they were a newcomer.

Yonghwa: ‘Suddenly we became popular, so we kind of worried, but it is something that we have to go through.’

Jonghyun: ‘Our mind never changes, just like before (we debuted).’

Before their Korea debut, they stayed in Japan to experience and study music as a band. They had first debut in Japan as an indie band.

Yonghwa: ‘Our first live was on the street at Shinjuku.’

Jungshin: ‘There are four members in our group, so we were not afraid being in a foreign country.’

Minhyuk: ‘Our main concern was not having money rather than having poor language (laugh). We always worried about transportation and food budget.’
And so they experienced hardships as a band.

Minhyuk: ‘As soon as we came to Japan, it was my birthday. Members gathered money and bought me drum cowbell. I’m still using it until now.’
It is heartwarming story in Japan.
In Korea, their main activities are mostly on TV. Back in Japan, they kept on performing live concerts as an indie band. But now it is quite hard to get their live tickets. Their activities are beyond the size of indies, for example when they performed at Yokohama Arena.

Yonghwa: ‘Our debut song ‘In My Head’ was composed by me. That song has a rock band feel, fast melody and is rather manly. If you listen to the chorus of ‘In My Head’ for the first time, it may be stick in your head. The lyrics is very positive, the image of young man running towards his dream. It is what we are.’

Minhyuk: ‘We improved as a band in Japan, we want to show the cooler side of us in the future.’

Jonghyun: ‘Our goal is to continue this band together as four, even until we have aged.’

[Minhyuk] His fashionable accessory is his ‘watch’. ‘If i don’t wear it, I get nervous.’ he said. Then Yonghwa said secretly ‘That is an antique watch, an expensive one’.

[Yonghwa] When I asked for him about his favorite girl’s fashion, he showed us his iPad and said ‘Like this!’ That day we saw such a cute side of him.

[Jonghyun] His secret of happiness in Japan is ‘Eating pudding. It is tastier than the ones in Korea’. That day, we saw he was eating coffee pudding, he looked happy.

[Jungshin] He is stylish, as he had experienced as a model. ‘My clothes are 70% black!’ His favorite fashion for girls are ‘Jeans, cap and black clothes’.
