Yamapi defeated by Kim Hyun Joong; Japanese Media Sarcastic, J. Ent lost face

(Tomohisa Yamashita (Yamapi)

According to the latest Nikkan Gendai issue, Tomohisa Yamashita’s single ‘Love Chase’ was totally defeated by Hallyu singer Kim Hyun Joong, who is regarded as a ‘rookie’ in the Japanese music industry, on the Oricon weekly charts.Tomohisa Yamashita totally defeated by Kim Hyun Joong; Japanese media sarcastic, J Ent lost face

Kim Hyun Joong’s single HEAT sold 183,478 copies in its debut week, placing no. 1 on the Oricon weekly chart in the period between July 2-8, with a significant gap from the 2nd-placed Tohomisa’s ‘Love Chase’ (118,981).

The Nikkan Gendai article termed Tomohisa (Yamapi) as Johnny Entertainment’s ‘Ace level’ (elite idol), and, “Now (he’s) lost to Kim Hyun Joong who is of the rookie category, resulting in a grave atmosphere throughout Johnny Entertainment. (But) because Yamapi belongs to Johnny Entertainment, so all Japanese media became very evasive – and dared not play up the news of Kim Hyun Joong’s victory; with some media completely ignoring the news, with not even a word of mention – to protect Johnny E’s face,” said an industry insider.

Although the media had consciously tried to minimise the effects (of KHJ’s win) on public opinion, it still couldn’t change the fact that Yamapi had been defeated.

“His manager is Iijima, who nurtured the national heavenly group, SMAP. This kind of ‘shame’ is unbearable.”

Looking at the matter objectively, the enviable results achieved by Kim Hyun Joong’s single this time was closely related to the series of PR activities that he had conducted.

“But losing on the charts still means losing.”

Before this, Kim Hyun Joong was the leader of SS501, starred in the Korean dramas ‘Boys Before Flowers’ and ‘Mischievous Kiss’, (thus) became a familiar face to the Japanese audience. After signing up with Bae Yong Joon’s artist management company, the momentum of his development became increasingly strong.

“Recently, Bae Yong Joon’s schedule is almost blank, so a considerable portion of (his) fans has switched to Kim Hyun Joong. The latter would also be starring in a Japanese drama – his development in Japan appears optimistic.”

Interestingly, many Japanese netizens have left comments like “Yamapi and Kim Hyun Joong really look too alike, but (Hyun Joong) looks more ‘man’ than Yamapi”, “Don’t know who is Kim Hyun Joong, but it is clear that Yamapi’s singing ability is average/nothing special. Being defeated on the Oricon chart is to be expected.”

The article in Nikkan Gendai said that since Yamapi was transferred into the management of Iijima, his solo career did not seem to experience much improvement. On the contrary, the continued decline from bad to worse “has caused others to ridicule that for the sake of sales, he would even cast aside his status to joke around in variety shows and organise hand-shake tours to court fans”.

“But Iijima is still a capable woman and how she will turn around the decline of Yamapi will draw attention.”

Translator’s note:

1) Nikkan Gendai = is a weekly tabloid-sized magazine

2) Johnny Ent is perhaps the biggest entertainment company in Japan, with acts like Arashi, Jin Akanishi, Yamapi, and the legendary SMAP under them too.

3) It should also be noted that when this article came out in Nikkan Gendai, many Japanese fans responded online that Kim Hyun Joong’s rising popularity isn’t because of Bae Yong Joon’s declining popularity, as suggested by the article.

2NE1 cancels upcoming single + announces plan for new album in October

re-post from : allkpop

YG Entertainment has just notified allkpop of some changes in upcoming plans. Unfortunately 2NE1‘s upcoming single, which was scheduled to be released on July 28th originally, has been canceled. However! The girls will be returning in October with a new album instead.

According to original plans, 2NE1 had intended to release their second single three weeks after the release of “I Love You” back on July 5th. However, as their ‘New Evolution‘ tour will kick off in Seoul at the end of this week, followed with performances overseas in August and September, it was decided that the double promotions with the tour and music program performances in Korea may take too much of a toll on the girls. Thus, after an emergency meeting, YG Entertainment has announced that they will be scrapping the plans for the new single coming up, and will instead be focusing on a new album release in October.

Although they are aware that some fans may be disappointed with the sudden announcement, they stated that this decision had to be made in order for the girls to focus more on their first world tour and give the producers in the agency more time to produce a higher quality album.

Kim Hyun Joong and Jung Yumi as lovers on City Conquest

Kim Hyun Joong and Jung Yumi recently attracted attention with their friendly look.

On July 24, a production company of the drama series City Conquest released some snapshots of Kim and Jung in friendly poses.

City Conquest, which will start airing at the end of this year, is an action melodrama series currently being filmed in Japan.

Because the series is adapted from Shin Hyung Bin’s popular cartoon series, the whole plot is completely undisclosed. However, as many fans of the series requested some more information, the company released some snapshots of Baek Mir (played by Kim Hyun Joong) and Lee Dan Bi (played by Jung Yumi).

In the pictures, Kim is showing off his chin line that has become slimmer from some weight loss and hard training he received in order to perform action scenes. His hair is messy and the way he’s dressed is not fancy, but he looks gentle and charismatic.

Playing the role of Lee Dan Bi, a jewelry designer, Jung is showing off her bright smile and innocent look in a white dress and a cardigan.

People responded: “Kim Hyun Joong and Jung Yumi look so good together.” “I’m so curious about the story.” “I envy Jung Yumi because she’s a great, pretty actress.” “I’m so excited about the change in Kim Hyun Joong’s acting style.”

Jang Geunsuk warns "saesang" fans to leave him alone

Credit : koreaboo

On July 22nd, actor Jang Geunsuk wrote an angry tweet to "saesang" fans. It read, "First you install an antenna in my taxi, then you jump in an 'empty' taxi to follow me through GPS data transmission...You sure have so many ways. I've already repeatedly said before that I don't need you saesang fans, so back off! I don't want you guys. So annoying!"

This is not the first time that Jang Geunsuk has publicly expressed his anger and disappointment with saesang fans as he tweeted a similar post last year in October. It read, "You crazy fans, you think you can know everything I do just by following me everywhere? Smile while you still can because if you continue to annoy me, I will take action."

Unfortunately Jang Geunsuk's first tweet seems to have fallen on deaf ears as he has had to once more warn saesang fans to leave him alone.

Upon seeing Jang Geunsuk's recent angry tweet, many netizens left comments such as, "You should take legal action against those crazy saesang fans," "Wow, it sure is difficult being such a popular celebrity," and "Jang Geunsuk oppa, fighting!"

CNBLUE's Jung Yonghwa and BEAST's Doojoon look older than their ages?

Many idol stars guested on the July 22nd episode of "Running Man," including CNBLUE's Jung Yonghwa, Super Junior's Eunhyuk, T-ara's Eunjung, 2PM's Nickhun, MBLAQ's Lee Joon, and BEAST's Yoon Doojoon.

Since the guests did not know each other too well, they used the time during a car ride to become closer. They asked each other about their ages and discovered that out of all the guests and hosts, Jung Yonghwa and Doojoon were the youngest. However, everyone did not believe that those two were the youngest since they look older than their declared age, causing Yonghwa to sadly reveal, "I even went to get a perm today to try to look a little bit younger!"

Doojoon, on the other hand, jokingly called Eunhyuk an old person as Eunhyuk was the oldest member among the guests. Upon hearing that, the show's producer called from the sidelines, "Hey! If you think a person born in 1986 is old, Ji Sukjin [a permanent member of "Running Man"] was born in 1966," causing everyone to erupt in laughter.

An internet cafe caught red-handed for selling idol stars’ personal info

A cafe within an internet portal site has come under fire for buying and selling the cell phone numbers, social security numbers, and Kakao Talk IDs of idols such as TVXQ, JYJ, and SHINee. In addition, buyers were even able to attain the phone numbers of the artists’ managers or close acquaintances through the website.

Exact prices were not specified, but it is said that the price of each piece of information differed greatly depending on the idol group.

As controversy over the site began to grow, access to the cafe was finally blocked.

Netizens who came across the shocking news stated, “It’s a pity their personal information is leaked just because they are celebrities. Although they are public figures, I think we should protect their privacy”, “Buying another copy of their album would be much more helpful to the artist than buying their social security number”, and “That’s crossing the line of fandom and approaching criminal offense. I hope they realize that sometimes less is more and that their actions can actually be a disservice to the idols they admire”.
