Multifaceted entertainer Lee Seung Gi, will temporarily live life as merely an actor.

Lee Seung Gi has recently resigned from his post as an MC from variety programs and is now going to be starring in MBC‘s new drama ‘The King 2 Hearts.’

A press conference was recently held for the drama on March 8th and at the conference, Lee Seung Gi revealed, “It is coincidental that I quit the variety program around this time. The timings clashed together, but I did not quit the variety shows for the drama.”

He continued, “‘1 Night and 2 Days’ was originally planned to stop airing. For ‘Strong Heart’, I thought that I couldn’t do it alone without Kang Ho Dong sunbaenim, but if I had quit too soon then the show couldn’t have continued so I extended my stay.”

Along with rumors pertaining to why he quit variety shows, there were some rumors that this drama is just a stepping stone to help Lee Seung Gi’s Japanese debut. To this, Lee Seung Gi replied, “I have released a single in Japan, but for now the drama and my Japanese debut do not have a big relation to each other. ‘The King 2 Hearts’ is for me getting to acting with many sunbaes. I did not join the drama as part of a devised plan.”

‘The King 2 Hearts’ will air its first episode on March 21st after the conclusion of ‘The Moon That Embraces the Sun.’
