On April 9th, Big Bang visited Taiwan for the very first time and set a record for gathering the largest welcome party upon their entrance!

Over 1,200 fans were reported to have gathered at the Taoyuan International Airport in the early morning to welcome the boys to their first visit to the country with placards stating, ‘Please open a concert for us in Taiwan’. Upon entering the airport, Big Bang looked to be visibly shocked and unable to contain their happiness at the crowd that had turned up for them and responded warmly to their fans with bright smiles.

The crowd wasn’t made up of just fans, though. Local media outlets covered the boys’ arrival in the news.

Big Bang held their official press conference at the ‘Taipei 101‘ on the 10th, which was attended by over 100 media officials from outlets like CTV, CTS, FTV, TTV, and more. Reporters showed fierce competition in gaining the boys’ attention for a live feed.

Big Bang expressed, “We never imagined there to be so many fans in our first visit to Taiwan. It was really surprising. We’ll be going on a world tour soon, so we hope that we’ll be able to perform in Taiwan as well.”

Big Bang was awarded platinum and double platinum awards from the CEO of Warner Music for their ‘4.5 Special Edition‘ and ‘Alive‘ albums.

The fans also made sure to set aside a separate segment to celebrate Daesung‘s upcoming birthday on the 26th. Together, they sang happy birthday in Korean. After the events, major outlets spent over two minutes on Big Bang coverage and footage of the press conference.

In related news, ‘Alive’ topped the country’s KKBOX, G-Music, and Five Music sales charts, as well as various digital and mobile sites.
