Big Bang’s multi-talented leader, G-Dragon, announced through his agency, YG Entertainment, that he is going to donate to a charity to match his fans’ good deed.
G-Dragon’s fans have been collecting money for his 24th birthday on August 18th, and donated around $25,000 to the Children’s Hospital at Seoul University. In return, G-Dragon said, “I want to add on to the donation as well“, and added nearly $50,000 to the donation.
Fans started collecting donation money after G-Dragon firmly stated that he will not be accepting gifts starting this year. He came to this decision because he wanted to take away the burden of fans preparing a gift for him every year.
G-Dragon’s fans were touched by his heartfelt decision that they took a step further and decided on donating $25,000 to the Children’s Hospital. Fans stated, “We are going to use this as an opportunity to help out those who are in need and continue to donate” showing sincere willingness in continuing the donation, reaching a new level of fandom.
In return, G-Dragon also made a donation after confessing, “I was so touched to receive something that I had never expected from my fans. I’m even thankful for all the support they give me every time. I want to donate $50,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Seoul University in return for my fan’s warm hearts in wanting to help out those who are in need. I think this will be my most memorable birthday ever“.
G-Dragon is also currently making donations every year through YG Entertainment’s ‘WITH Campaign“. ‘WITH Campaign’ is a program where part of the revenue from YG Entertainment’s music, performances, and merchandise sales are donated to charity.
G-Dragon stated to an associate of his agency, “My schedule was so filled that I couldn’t see the people who were in need. But through this occasion, I want to be more involved in social work and to help out those in need“.
Additionally, Big Bang’s 5th anniversary is on the 19th so this carries even more meaning.
