Jang Geun Suk is determined to receive the title of a ‘World Star’

Singer-actor Jang Geun Suk expressed his strong desire to become an international star.

The Hallyu icon received the ‘World Star Award‘ at the third annual 2011 Asia Jewelry Awards held at the Intercontinental Hotel on December 6th. In order to greet all of his Japanese fans that traveled to attend the event, Jang Geun Suk expressed his emotions in Japanese by proudly remarking, “It says ‘World Star’.”

“I know that the title may not suit me quite yet, but it’s something I’ve dreamed about since I was young,” he said. “If I am given the opportunity, I will work ’til death to become one,” he continued, earning the warm applause of the audience.

This year’s third annual Asia Jewelry Awards were held in an effort to spread more awareness of Korean culture and the excellence of Korean jewelry design. The hottest stars as well as multiple corporations were in attendance and they promoted ‘noblesse oblige’, the idea that the noble must first reach out to help those who are less fortunate.

Group JYJ won the ‘World K-POP Superstar Award‘, T-ARA and MBLAQ won the ‘Diamond Award‘ under the musical artists category, and Joo Sang Wook as well as Moon Chae Won won the ‘Diamond Award‘ under the actor/actress category. Additionally, Uhm Ji Won and Lee Jae Hwang were awarded the ‘Sapphire Award‘, while Lee Seung Hyo and Lee Haein were awarded the ‘Ruby Award‘.
