Solo artist G.NA attended the NetKAL (Network of Korean American Leaders) conference in L.A. at USC Davidson Conference Center as a representative of Korean singers.
G.NA was introduced as “K-POP’s NO.1 Artist”, and after receiving a warm welcome from the audience, she gave a heartfelt speech about her road to becoming a singer.
When asked “How popular is K-Pop right now?”, she answered, “I went to many different Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, and learned that so many people have love for Korean singers. Recently, I’ve been able to experience realtime feedback from countries I’ve never been to before in Europe and South America through SNS.”
She continued, “Recently, when I was on MTV in New York with 4minute and B2ST, I was really surprised. Seeing all the fans gathered at Times Square, I thought that this demonstrated the [international] reaction to K-Pop and felt a sense of responsibility.”
Reflecting on the “future of K-Pop”, G.NA said, “Starting with something small, as Korean culture spreads little by little, I think it’s important for it to seep into people all over the world so that they can gradually get used to it.”
She also stated, “I believe that in the future, as I keep singing on stage, even more opportunities will present themselves. I want to provide good songs for you wherever I am in the world.”
G.NA’s speech at the summit received loud applause from 200 media and entertainment representatives. She later peformed her hit songs, “Top Girl” and “Black & White”, and spoke with local record label representatives, hinting at a possibility of a U.S. debut.
